Meet The Doctors

Dr. Kerry Russell

Chiropractor

My journey to become a Doctor of Chiropractic began as a patient. Growing up in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada sports was a huge part of my youth. I loved soccer, track and field, basketball, volleyball, but my greatest passion came when I laced up my ice hockey skates. At the age of 16, I was invited to Canada's national under 17 hockey camp, it was there that my troubles began. I did not finish the week of camp because of a torn hamstring muscle. I made the mistake of not treating it, just resting until I felt better and continued on with my hockey career.

I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to play hockey and Michigan State University and graduated in 1991. I was drafted by the Hartford Whalers , but still with nagging back and leg problems I showed up for training camp. It was there I was introduced to a Chiropractor, it was the answer I was looking for. I began to get relief from my pain, and my journey to healing began. After two years of professional hockey, I retired from

professional hockey to pursue my new dream of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. My passion for sports continues through my work as I enjoy helping others reach their potential and alleviate their pain and continue on a path of wellness. I have completed my post graduate fellowship in Chiropractor Sports Medicine and Clinical Nutrition to better serve my patients.

I have lived and practiced in Traverse City since 1998. I am currently involved in youth sports through the Grand Traverse Hockey Association serving as a youth coach. I am married to Molly (Piche") Russell, a native of Traverse City whom I met at Michigan State while she was completing her Masters in Exercise Physiology. We are blessed to have four children, Marcus, Jon, Maisy and Dan ( aka Rocket:)).

Chiropractor

I'm native of Houghton, MI in the beautiful Upper Peninsula. I studied Exercise Science at Michigan Technological University and finished my bachelor's degree while attending chiropractic school at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. I interned in Minnesota for one year with Dr. Valentini, the Minnesota Vikings' first team chiropractor. I did my final internship with Dr. Russell here in Traverse City.

I've been treated by chiropractors since I was a toddler, but my first "eye opening" experience with natural healthcare was when I was in middle school. I had suffered with chronic migraine headaches for as long as I can remember. At the worst point, the migraines were happening once a week and could last up to 4 days. I had tried everything; MRIs, CT scans, blood work... I was put on medications that took the pain away temporarily but made it essentially impossible for me to function. I finally decided I had had enough and went to my family chiropractor. After having regular adjustments for a few months my migraines were almost completely gone. I was amazed that chiropractic was able to help me so quickly without drugs. I was hooked! My chiropractor was my "go-to" from then on. He helped me rehab from numerous sports injuries, treated my allergies, aches and pains and kept me functioning at my highest potential.

I've known since a young age that I wanted to do something in the healthcare field; I'm passionate about helping people and am excited to do so in a natural way. I'm looking forward to treating patients of all ages who are experiencing pain, want to maintain wellness or achieve maximum performance in their lifestyles/athletics.

I adjust using a diversified technique, drops, traction, and activator and I put an emphasis on muscle work. I'm currently accepting new patients and welcome walk-ins!
